2006 – 2008, Beaver Island Community Center -
This 9,000 square foot project is unique to the Beaver Island community. This 2-story building on the harbor has become a place for teenagers, seniors and families alike to gather, housing a recreation area with wireless technology and a 120 seat theater.
The Community Center also houses an elevator and boasts a restored storefront circa 1900 from the previous demolished building.
Beaver Gems provided site work and excavation, rough and finish carpentry and any needed construction equipment to the project.
Various subcontractors have worked on the project and provided specialty services such as Electrical, Mechanical, Audio-Visual, and Glazing.
The Preservation Assocation of Beaver Island, the owners of the facility set no specific time frame for completion of the project as an ongoing community funded project. Beaver Gems worked with PABI to recreate this landmark on Main Street as funding was available. Funding was finally arranged for completion of the Beaver Island Community Center. The Grand Opening for the Center was July 4, 2008.
